Agustín de Hipona o SanAgustín o Aurelius Augustinus Hipponensis (Tagaste, 13
de noviembre de 354 – Hippo Regius (también
llamada Hipona), 28 de agosto de 430) es un santo, padre y doctor de la Iglesia católica.
El "Doctor de la Gracia" fue el máximo pensador del cristianismo del
primer milenio y según Antonio Livi uno de los más grandes genios de la
humanidad. Autor prolífico, dedicó gran parte de su vida a escribir
sobre filosofía y teología siendo Confesiones y La Ciudad de Dios sus obras más destacadas.
Augustine of Hippo (Latin: Aurelius Augustinus Hipponensis; 13 November 354 – 28 August 430), also known as Saint
Augustine or Saint Austin, was an early Christian theologian and
philosopher whose
writings were very influential in the development of Western Christianity and Western philosophy. He
was bishop of Hippo Regius (present-day Annaba, Algeria) located in the Roman province of Africa. Writing during the Patristic Era, he is viewed as one of the most important Church Fathers in
the Western Christianity. Among his most important works are City of God and Confessions, which continue to be read widely today.
